Vision Board Comes True

Here is my story of how I made a vision board and what I did with it, and how it came true:

I decided I wanted a new full-time job. I bolstered my Prosperity Guas in the fall and…

a) In mid-October, I created my version of a vision board: a very clear affirmation with sketches of it having come true. So I had sketches of me being happy and with many elements of the job. My affirmation had feeling words that I personally could relate to and a clear definition of what I wanted:
“I say ‘Woo-Hoo!’ and I do a ‘victory dance’ as I start a wonderful new job by January 15, 2012. It is less than 15 minute drive, earning $72,000+ a year, cheaper health insurance, a work space with windows, working with wonderful people, and has meaningful, stimulating, wonderful work, and just the right amount of challenge. I love it!”

b) I put it on a little table near the foot of my bed, that I could see when sitting up in bed. I did the following practice every single morning when I woke up and every single night when I went to bed, probably for 5-10 minutes each. (If I took a nap, I did it for a minute or two before and after):
I read the affirmation to myself. then I would meditate on it using each of the five senses: what would it feel like to have such a great job? what would people be saying to me to praise me? what would it look like? (look like was a bit harder for me since I didn’t know the exact type of job it would be, but I pictured smiling faces) What was a really great tasting meal taste like, one that I could associate with this situation? what would a great meal smell like, like a high quality lunch that I might bring to lunch at the new job? I also thought about what I would GIVE in exchange for this great situation, such as my enthusiasm and a lot of energy and effort to do my best…I would meditate on all this for 5-10 minutes. It was in my Career Gua of my bedroom.

I got one interview after about a month, and they liked me but the person going on maternity leave had just that morning been placed on emergency bed-rest, so they ended up hiring someone who could start the next day. I felt confused and mad at the universe…but then two weeks later, I called by two more places for interviews, and both of those jobs were BETTER than the one I didn’t get. One of them was for my dream job… and I got the job! I started work in mid January, and my salary was in the 71,000s, but a new contract in January will raise it to 72,000+…
I will say that by December, after all that affirming, I FELT like a magnet, and I started to feel like “How can I NOT get a job?”…A woman I know who doesn’t know about the vision board said to me “It was like you decided you wanted a better job and you drew it to you!”

It works…try it.

Delving into 2012 – The Year of the Water Dragon

Water Dragon

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the Water Dragon arrives on January 23rd bringing the Feng Shui principle “Everything is always changing” into full play. Although the Dragon’s natural element is Wood, 2012 is associated with the Water element, making this the Year of the Water Dragon. In the Chinese Five Element theory, Water nurtures Wood, fueling the Dragon’s already powerful strength and vitality. The Water element is associated with spirituality and Wood with intuition, promising to lift spiritual and intuitive veils and enhance your extra-sensory perceptions. Meditation and other practices that deepen your relationship with the Unseen world will go a long way in helping you remain calm, clear, and connected throughout this year’s profusion of inner and outer transformations.

If you haven’t already de-cluttered your material world and released excess possessions, now’s the time! The same cleansing and clearing process is also vital within your body, mind, and heart. Create space for the Dragon to land by attending to any stagnant areas in your life. This year’s gifts can only be fully received by the unencumbered. The lighter you are on all levels, the better.

The only mythical animal of the twelve in Chinese astrology, the Dragon is known for bringing Heaven to Earth and making dreams come true. “Watch what you wish for, ’cause you’re going to get it,” is a phrase to remember as synchronicities multiply, breathing life into whatever you pray and wish for. Visions you’ve been holding deep within your heart, such as experiencing loving community, lasting peace, spiritual illumination, and restoration of Mother Earth become potently activated and, like magic, could manifest ‘right before your eyes.’ And, the changes that accommodate such manifestations can occur in any size or shape, underlining the importance of cultivating your lightness of being and doing.

The magnanimous spirit of the Dragon is entwined with a practical, no-nonsense attitude that simply reveals what is so. This is no year for secrets of any kind. Truth will prevail as all that has been personally and collectively hidden is exposed to the light. This could make for some very interesting ‘plays’ in the Theater of Life.

With the growing, flowing attributes of Wood and Water leading the way this year, dreams could launch without a stable platform in place. Feng Shui observes that the qualities of the other three elements – Fire, Earth, and Metal – can balance Wood and Water and help you to birth your dreams into a healthy existence. Attend to the emotional well-being of the people in your life, taking the time to ‘tend the fire’ and create warm, harmonious relationships. Honor every step of the earthy physical processes that provide a firm foundation and keep you organized. Maintain mental clarity by thinking things through, forging creative collaborations, and refining your choices along the way. Taking all five elements into consideration can widen synchronistic pathways and help you be in the right place with the right people at the right time.

This is the year to turn-up the magic in your life and let it shine. Consider how you can weave more wonder into every day. Open yourself to the vast realms of inner guidance and outer communion with all ‘who’ surround you. Spend as much time as you can connecting with expansive natural settings and drinking in the elixir of Mother Nature’s ever-present majesty. Let the Dragon guide you in bridging Heaven and Earth in your life, then step throughthe portals of magic as they open, ready to be enchanted!

Vision Board Rock Star

Each year is full of new choices, opportunities and possibilities!

Now is the time to create a 2012 Vision Board: a collection of images and objects that represent the goals, dreams and visions of all the goodness that 2012 has waiting for us in the wings. No matter what the collective experience has been these last few months, we as individuals still have needs and priorities; And, when we focus on those specific things we want, they can manifest quickly and delightfully.

Some start a new board each year and store them year after year. Others archive a photo of each year’s board for their album. Others add new layers each year to the same board, being careful to keep exposed those images and items with which they still resonate.

At the end of the year, review, circle or check off the images that manifested, so that over time, you have an ongoing record of your dreams fulfilled!

The Gift of Serenity

To activate this gift, drink at least 8 ounces of pure water. Then, ideally in a serene natural setting (but really anywhere where you won’t be disturbed will do), sit comfortably, with your spine straight, close your eyes, and place your left hand over your heart, and your right hand over it. Begin to simply notice your breath as it goes in and out. When your breath naturally begins to deepen and slow down, on the inhale, think: “I breathe in serenity.” On the exhale, think: “I breathe out everything else.” Repeat at least two more times, and then continue for as long as feels right to you.

The Gift of Authenticity

This gift is about being in alignment with your most ideal life path. To activate this gift, draw a bath and dissolve one cup of sea salt in it. Light a white or off-white candle and perhaps a stick of incense. Hold your hands over the water and say: “This water, like the sea from which the salt within it came, represents the ocean’s darkest depths. I call on the spirit of the ocean deep to infuse this water with joyful flow and fearless authenticity.” Get into the water and relax deeply. When you feel ready, with your eyes, closed, think: “I follow my bliss. I know my bliss. I live my bliss. I am my bliss.”

The Gift of Synchronicity

Each life has its own unique rhythm and flow. And, when we are in alignment with that flow, everything just seems to work. More often than not, we “just happen” to be in the right place at the right time, and both seen and unseen worlds seem to be conspiring to help us with even the tiniest things – and this is synchronicity. To activate this gift, put on instrumental or chanting music that relaxes you, uplifts you, and helps your energy flow. Stand comfortably with your spine straight. Relax and take some deep breaths. Hold your arms out as if you are about to hug someone. Turn in a counterclockwise direction three times, each time saying, “I now clear the decks for divine support and harmonious flow.” Then stop for a minute and take a centering breath or two. When you feel ready, spin in a clockwise direction three times, each time saying, “I am perfectly supported by the Universe!”

The Gift of Creativity

We are a species characterized by creativity. There is no one through which divine creative energy does not want to flow. And when it flows, we feel joyful and relaxed, comfortable in our own skin, and able to transmute our challenges into blessings and our struggles into beauty. This nourishes our health, along with every other aspect of our life. To activate this gift, hang a prismatic crystal (like this one or these ones) in a sunny window so that it splashes rainbows throughout the room. (If you don’t have a sunny window, simply stand in the sunlight with the crystal.) As you gaze at the dancing rainbows, say, “Divine light shines through me in a way that it shines through no one else on earth. I reflect rainbows! I dance with the Infinite!”

The Gift of Romance

Whether we are in a partnership or not (or whether or not we desire to be), romance and sensuality are essential nutrients for the well-rounded happiness of human beings. To activate the gift of romance in your life, in the morning, on a Friday during a waxing moon, obtain one pink rose and one red rose. Change the sheets on your bed, make your bed, and then strew all the petals from both roses across the top of your mattress. Leave them there until before you go to sleep. Then, collect them and place them at the base of a tree (or in a flower bed or compost bin if you’re in a city).

The Gift of Radiance

Your essence naturally shines brightly like the sun – why hide it? Instead, allow your beautiful, nourishing light to radiate forth, sharing warmth, healing, and sustenance with the world. To activate this gift, stand outside, in bright sunlight while the moon is waxing and in a fire sign (Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius). Place your hands over your heart as you become aware of the blinding brightness of the sun. Close your eyes and acknowledge/visualize that your heart light is even brighter than the sun. Open your arms outward like you’re about to hug someone and see this light expanding from your heart and filling your entire body and aura. Say, “I shine like the sun. I am known. I am seen. I am loved.”

To activate the gift of abundance, as soon as you awake on the morning of a new moon, get out of bed, lift and open your arms as if you are about to receive blessings from the heavens. Lift your face and visualize golden coins and sparkly golden light coming down from the sky and completely surrounding your entire body and energy field. Say, “I happily receive wealth and abundance.” Then, bring this energy deeply into your being by then placing both hands on your heart. As you feel this abundant light pulsating within you, say, “I am wealthy and prosperous beyond my fondest dreams.”

The Gift of Resilience

Weathering the storms of life builds character, seasons our life experience, and invariably brings us back to the things that matter most: family, friends, and feeling connected to Mother Earth and all her many inhabitants. The gift of resilience helps us to send our roots deep so that the buffeting winds only make us stronger. To activate this gift, stand so that your spine is aligned with the trunk of a flourishing, vibrant tree (it’s OK if it’s in it’s most wintry, leafless state as long as you know it’s healthy). Feel your feet on the earth and energetically send your roots deep into the earth, like the tree’s. Then visualize/feel yourself growing upward from the top of your head with the tree. When you feel that you are sufficiently merged with its energy, say: “My roots go deep and my branches reach high. I am vital, I am strong, I endure.”

The Gift of Balance

Once you have activated all the other eight gifts, weaving them together in a balanced, harmonious way will infuse you with a feeling of profound wellness and bliss. To activate the gift of balance, when the moon is in Libra, sit comfortably, with your spine straight. Relax, close your eyes, and take some deep, cleansing breaths. When you feel ready, visualize a sphere of glowing white light encompassing your entire body. Give yourself a gentle hug and declare: “I am serene and authentic. I experience synchronicity. I express myself creatively. Romance and radiance, and abundance are mine. I am resilient. I am balanced. I am free. All is well in my world. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Blessed be. And so it is.”
